Living Conversations

Project Details
Launch Date:
April 2008
Synopsis:

Living Conversations is a community website for breast cancer survivors. The site aims to allow users to register, create and maintain profiles similar to a social networking site, but with a strong focus on users sharing their personal experiences, primarily with videos and blogs, in order to generally spread hope. We were subcontractors on this site and hired to create a custom drupal theme based on a provided mockup, and to resolve many of the issues leftover from the beta stage which was handled by another shop.

Execution:

As usual, a lot of functionality was implied by the mockups, especially in the user profiles and various thumbnail bar elements and video thumbnails in the footer of the site, all created automatically by the site when a user either uploads their videos or images for their profile. Social Networking features are light, but allow blogging, commenting, forums, and buddylists. As for the video solution, the site integrates heavily with blip.tv, users upload videos through a standard cck input form, and the files are then sent to blip.tv and processed and fed back into the site in flash format.
